Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH)

The Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH) is the University of Luxembourg's third interdisciplinary research centre. Its ambition is to venture off the beaten track and find new ways of doing, teaching and presenting the contemporary history of Luxembourg and Europe in the 20th and 21st centuries. It serves as a catalyst for innovative and creative scholarship and new forms of public dissemination.

A Trading Zone for Knowledge Production

The interdisciplinary and digital workflow of the Centre is inspired by the concept of thinkering which promotes a hands-on approach to new digital sources, tools and infrastructures for the practice of history while critically assessing the impact of digital tools and technologies on historical research. All the Centre’s research and outreach activities are supported by a digital research infrastructure and driven by a strong commitment to public history outputs.

What makes the C²DH’ unique:
• Critical reflection on methodological challenges
• Transmedia storytelling
• Open source ethos
• Experimental hands-on approach
• Interdisciplinarity

University of Luxembourg

The University of Luxembourg (Uni.lu) is Luxembourg's only public university. Created in 2003, it strives today to meet tomorrow's major societal challenges, by nurturing an interdisciplinary approach and international outlook, investing in scientific quality innovation, as well as offering personalised and multilingual teaching.

The institution places particular emphasis on research with impact and strives to unseal knowledge. In this light, its research priorities focus on digital transformation, medicine and health, as well as sustainable and societal development. Its 1,500 academic staff members combine their expertise in three faculties, four interdisciplinary research centres and its Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS).

Uni.lu also invests in its knowledge and technology transfer, thanks to an attractive intellectual property policy and numerous partnerships.

7,500 students are enrolled at Uni.lu, of which 1,000 are doctoral candidates. With 300 professors, students have privileged access to world-renowned expertise. Students also benefit from state-of-the-art infrastructure, multilingual courses and international mobility programmes. Over 17,000 students graduated from Uni.lu, and over 50% of alumni go on to pursue their careers in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
